TIME Hotels milestones & highlights throughout 2018
Despite the continuing geopolitical and economic uncertainties facing everyone in the industry, I am happy to say 2018 has been a year of success for TIME Hotels on a number of levels.
As the year draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of some of the major milestones that together, with your support, TIME has managed to achieve – as well as a number of projects that have been set in motion and will broaden our footprint across the region, and help further serve our guests as we look ahead to the next 12 months.
2018 has certainly been an award-winning year for TIME Hotels.
In total, we have picked up 12 awards: Best Family Hotel; Best New Business Hotel; Hotel Team of the Year; CSR Label Award for fourth consecutive year; Elegant Luxury Hotel of the Year; Best Business Leader Award; Best Sports Restaurant; Sous Chef of the Year; Facility Management of the Year; GM of the Year; Service Excellence Award and to round off the year I was delighted to climb from number 21 to number 11 in the 2018 Hotelier Middle East Power 50 – this is true testament to the hard work, commitment and dedication of each and every TIME team member.
Milestones and highlights throughout the year have included the successful launch of three new properties including TIME Hotel Apartment Dammam, TIME Beach Villas Resort in Jeddah and TIME Nozha Aqua Park Hotel & Resort – our first beach resort in Egypt; the opening of the third O’Learys restaurant in the UAE in July as well as the opening of two new F&B outlets, Pranzo and Mugs & Munch; a series of refurbishments at TIME Grand Plaza Hotel, TIME Oak Hotel & Suites, TIME Crystal Hotel Apartments and TIME Topaz Hotel Apartments; and the launch of our new Central Reservations Office in Cairo and National Sales Office.
As always, in 2018 we placed a particular focus on working to strengthen our impact on local and regional communities through a roster of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including supporting a children’s cancer hospital in Egypt and, closer to home, a marine conversation programme in collaboration with the Emirates Wildlife Society.
Investing in digital has been an area of focus for us over the last 12 months with the creation of an updated and fully responsive website in both English and Arabic which includes a dedicated booking engine. And, in an attempt to continue to reduce our carbon footprint in all of our hotels which are green certified, we are working to minimise the use of paper – moving towards a more digital approach overall.
Looking ahead to 2019 and beyond, we have plans for major expansion across the UAE with the opening of TIME Asma Hotel and various other properties in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and Oman.
Our ambition is to continue with the successful expansion of the TIME Hotels brand and, of course continue to meet the demands of multiple markets by offering high-quality hotels and resorts or fully furnished apartments for market segments that are currently under-represented in the regional market. Dubai, the GCC and wider MENA region enjoys unparalleled potential and vision and we look forward to shaping its future.
