TIME Hotels milestones & highlights throughout 2019

Where has 2019 gone? It seems like only yesterday that we were reviewing 2018 and looking forward to the 12 months ahead. However, as the year draws to a close, I am very happy to say 2019 has been both an award-winning and rewarding year for TIME Hotels.

In total, we have picked up 22 awards with accolades such as: Best CSR Champion of the Year; Best Green Initiative Hotel of the Year; CSR Label Award for the fifth consecutive year; Most Inspiring CEO of the Year; Luxury Family Beach Resort of the Year; Executive Sous Chef of the Year Award; Tech Savvy Budget Hotel of the Year and to round off the year, on a personal note, I was delighted to climb to number 10 in the 2019 Hotelier Middle East Power top 50.

Putting all of these achievements into context, it has been a phenomenal year, given there are more than 700 hotels in Dubai. All credit must go to our exemplary team members in every department, who uphold the brand values of TIME Hotels at every given opportunity, providing guests with first class service and, ultimately, a memorable stay.

Milestones and highlights throughout the year have included;

The opening of the debut property under our Express brand, TIME Express Hotel Al Khan in Sharjah;

Signing a new agreement to operate Dunes Hotel Apartments’ three properties located in Al Barsha, Al Qusais and Oud Metha – further reinforcing our growth strategy to expand our footprint across the UAE;

Signing a strategic agreement with UK-based car hire company, Rhino, allowing us to offer ‘live’ car rental bookings through our website;

Signing an agreement with Plan B Solutions to offer our guests the opportunity to enroll in an elite membership club;

Relocating our Central Reservations Office to Cairo, in-line with our expansion plans for the Middle East and North Africa.

As always, in 2019 we placed a particular focus, on strengthening our impact on local and regional communities through a roster of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. CSR strategies have become an integral element of every hotel group’s operational blueprint and, for us at TIME Hotels, they are at the heart of everything we do, from walks to raise awareness for breast cancer and community clean-up campaigns to job swaps and a ‘Gift Tolerance’ event which saw employees exchange gifts with their fellow colleagues.

However, we will not sit on our laurels, we will now build upon these successes, which will be used as a benchmark to set our goals for 2020 and of course to measure our progress and achievements.

So, what’s my forecast for 2020? Well, I believe that there is still massive pent-up demand for new midscale projects, to satisfy the demands of a travelling public for whom a stay in a hotel doesn’t have to mean ultra-luxury, services on tap 24-hours and room rates to match.

We see the continued growth of mid-market accommodation in the UAE, and across the wider region, as new waves of visitors looking to reduce the cost of their hotel stay, to free up their budget to spend on dining and entertainment or shopping and excursions.

Our mission is to continue with the successful and unabated expansion of the TIME Hotels brand and, of course continue to meet the demands of multiple markets by offering value-led, high-quality hotels and resorts or fully furnished apartments for market segments that are currently under-represented across Dubai, the GCC and wider MENA region.
